Sunday’s Quote…

“Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.”

~Albert Einstein

Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

Colossians 3:9

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

Ephesians 4:14 & 15

Since I love to read…

And I read to my children, I signed up on PaperBackSwap.  I have enjoyed cleaning out the books I didn’t want in my bookcase and filling with the books I really wanted.

“Do you have any used books lying around? Ones you’ve already enjoyed, but you’re never going to read again? I did, and I finally found a great way to share them with other people!

Let me tell you how it works — because it is so easy! I listed a bunch of books on the site (listing 10 books gets the first member in your household free credits!) and I got 2 free book credits to get started. So you can order 2 books right away – free of charge — and have them mailed directly to you! No strings attached. No gimmicks. No spam mail. Nothing. You just have to love reading books.

When another member selects one of my books that I have listed, I mail it to them. Yes, I pay for the postage. But then I get another book credit and I can select a book that I want. So another Club Member returns the favor and mails me one of his or her books free of charge. For every book I mail out, I get another book in return – a true shared system!

When someone requests one of your books, all you have to do is print two pieces of regular paper from your printer which includes the mailing address and the recommended postage. Apply the postage, and drop it in the mail. Hey, for a typical paperback, you don’t even need to go to the post office.

Right now the annual club membership is free. Eventually the founders will ask everyone to help contribute to pay for the upkeep of the web site, but for now the annual club membership is free. The annual dues will probably be between $10 and $20 based on the number of people in the club. But again, right now you don’t even have to pay any dues for at least one year if you become a Member.

You really need to check this out. And if you do sign up, please use the following link:

If you use the link above to join, I’ll get a free book when you post your first ten books (and you’ll still get free books for posting them!)”

Thanks for checking this out!

Eight years…

Today we celebrate our life together. Eight happy years. We loved each other that day we promised “till death do us part”. We still love each other, in a more mature, deeply rooted, kinda way. In a way that has been though the bumps of life together and survived. BIG bumps and little bumps. Some that jolted us and some that we rode through with ease. The day Joe asked me to marry him, we can upon a bumpy spot in the road and he looked at me and said, ” We will go through all life’s bumps together.”  At that moment, it was so thrilling to hear him say that! Just the thought of sharing life together. He still says that to me and it still thrills me. It has been 8 happy years!! And I look forward to MANY more! I want to grow old with you, Dear!

Gathering in the harvest…

Pro. 30:25  The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer…

It is an old practice.

An art that was almost lost and is being recovered.

A skill passed down from one generation to the next.

Many see the need to prepare now… even the ants…

Awesome bookshelves…

I love books. No, I LOVE books and I love to read. I am teaching my oldest to read. I’ve read to my lil ones since they were born, hoping to instill that love for reading in them. I was reading blogs this morning found this awesome idea for bookshelves. Rain Gutter Book Shelves

They look simple and easy to do.

Male and female…

I never cease to be amazed at the unique way that God created the male and female brains. My 3 yr. old (female) is so different than my 5 yr. old (male). The way she plays, the ways she talks(none stop), the ways she thinks in terms of RELATIONSHIPS :). Yesterday, I was cutting up watermelon. I had a large one and a different kind of melon(much smaller in size) side by side and she said, ” It’s a mommy and baby watermelon.”  We got a good laugh out of that!

I am finally getting a moment to write  about our busyness. For 2 weeks, I’ve only thought of writing and took some pictures to post. It’s been canning and putting away food and more canning and putting away food. As I read through the blogs I see that this is the life of many homemakers and homesteaders right now. It’s the way I’ve known it since I was a child. Summertime is for preparing for the winter and enjoying the delicious fresh veggies from the garden. Lots of hard work and hot days, but lots of satisfaction and reward.

So here is some small proof of our labors…

The photos of the rows of finished product will come later.
