Gathering in the harvest…

Pro. 30:25¬† The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer…

It is an old practice.

An art that was almost lost and is being recovered.

A skill passed down from one generation to the next.

Many see the need to prepare now… even the ants…

BUSY…

I am finally getting a moment to write¬† about our busyness. For 2 weeks, I’ve only thought of writing and took some pictures to post. It’s been canning and putting away food and more canning and putting away food. As I read through the blogs I see that this is the life of many homemakers and homesteaders right now. It’s the way I’ve known it since I was a child. Summertime is for preparing for the winter and enjoying the delicious fresh veggies from the garden. Lots of hard work and hot days, but lots of satisfaction and reward.

So here is some small proof of our labors…

The photos of the rows of finished product will come later.

Okra

A few of the many peaches

Cucumbers and sweet peppers

Cartload of Pumpkins

Cayenne Peppers

Be prepared…

With all the bad news out there, fear is certain to try to grab us. One of the best ways to face fear is to be educated and prepared. I just read a post that says it so well, so I’ll just direct you there.

It is a challenge to be diligent and aware, for the sake of our children!
