I found the recipe yesterday and made a batch. I have used it before and know that it works. You can find a thread of discussion about it on the Well Tell Me forum. There you will read of other people’s experience and what worked for them and different ways of making it.

I just used what I had, which was regular(not extra virgin) olive oil, regular(not extra virgin) coconut oil, and organic garlic cloves. I used about 1/4 cup of each of the oils and one whole bulb of garlic. I have a mini food processor so I put everything together in there and blended it up. Then I stained it in my mesh stainer (I happened to be making tomato sauce at the time so I put the garlic in there after staining to get the best use of it), put it in a jar and labeled it.

After baths last night I rubbed it on all the little feet. I am hoping to prevent flu bugs this year, as much as I can, anyway!

Disclaimer: My whole house smells like garlic this morning!

Another variation, and she renamed it GOCO.

Our summer has been hot!

Very HOT!!

We saw more days over 100 degrees than we cared to, with heat indexes exceeding 110.

BUT… fall appears to be here now and we are enjoying it!

Soup is coming back into my mind as I think of menus now.

So I thought I would ask for some of your favorite soup recipes.

Here is one that I found on Lynn’s Kitchen Adventures that I would like to try sometime.

For tonight it is going to be my favorite Broccoli Cheese Soup.

Broccoli Cheese Soup

2 TBSP chopped onion

2 TBSP melted butter

3 TBSP flour

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. pepper

2 cups milk

1 cup grated cheese (I use cheddar)

Cook onion and butter until onion is soft. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper. Add milk and heat to boiling. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. Add cheese and stir until melted.

In another pan add 2 chicken bouillon cubes to 2 cups of boiling water. Add 10 oz. fresh or frozen broccoli. Cook until tender. Add cheese sauce and serve with crackers.

Broccoli can be processed in blender before adding cheese sauce, or with a stick blender if you have one.

If you would share a recipe that you have enjoyed, I would be thrilled to try some new ones.

By Dr. S.M. Lockridge

The Bible says my King is a seven-way king….He’s the King of the Jews; that’s a racial king….He’s the King of Israel; that’s a national King….He’s the King of Righteousness….He’s the King of the Ages…..He’s the King of Heaven….He’s the King of Glory….He’s the King of kings, and He’s the Lord of lords. That’s my King. Well….I wonder, do you know Him?…. David said, “The Heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows His handiwork. My King is a sovereign King. No means of measure can define His limitless love. No far seeing telescope can bring into visibility the coastline of His shoreless supply. No barrier can hinder Him from pouring out His blessings. He’s enduringly strong….He’s entirely sincere….He’s eternally steadfast….He’s immortally graceful….He’s imperially powerful….He’s impartially merciful……. Do you know Him?

He’s the greatest phenomenon that ever crossed the horizon of this world. He’s God’s Son….He’s a sinner’s Saviour….He’s the centerpiece of civilization….He stands in the solitude of Himself….He’s august….He’s unique….He’s unparalleled….He’s unprecedented….He’s the loftiest idea in literature….He’s the highest personality in philosophy….He’s the supreme problem in higher criticism….He’s the fundamental doctrine of true theology….He’s the cardinal necessity for spiritual religion….He’s the miracle of the age…. He’s the superlative of everything good that you choose to call Him….He’s the only one qualified to be an all sufficient Saviour…… I wonder if you know Him today?

He supplies strength for the weak….He’s available for the tempted and the tried….He sympathizes and He saves….He strengthens and sustains….He guards and He guides….He heals the sick….He cleanses lepers….He forgives sinners….He discharges debtors….He delivers captives….He defends the feeble….He blesses the young….He serves the unfortunate….He regards the aged….He rewards the diligent….and He beautifies the meek……. I wonder if you know Him?

Well, my King….is the King….He’s the key to knowledge….He’s the wellspring to wisdom….He’s the doorway of deliverance….He’s the pathway of peace….He’s the roadway of righteousness ….He’s the highway of holiness….He’s the gateway of glory……. Do you know Him?

Well….His office is manifold….His promise is sure….His light is matchless….His goodness is limitless….His mercy is everlasting….His love never changes….His word is enough….His grace is sufficient….His reign is righteous….and His yoke is easy, and his burden is light. I wish I could describe Him to you, but He’s indescribable….He’s incomprehensible….He’s invincible….He’s irresistible.

Well, you can’t get Him out of your mind….You can’t get Him off of your hand….You can’t out live Him, and you can’t live without Him….The Pharisees couldn’t stand Him, but they found out they couldn’t stop Him….Pilate couldn’t find any fault in Him….The witnesses couldn’t get their testimonies to agree….Herod couldn’t kill Him….Death couldn’t handle Him, and the grave couldn’t hold Him. Yea!!!, that’s my King, that’s my King.

Father…”Thine is the Kingdom….and the Power….and the Glory….Forever”….and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever. How long is that? And ever…and ever…and when you get through with all the forevers, then…. AMEN!….AMEN!

We were blessed with a bountiful harvest of pumpkins this year and I am cooking them off a few at a time. I use some and freeze some for later use in pumpkin pies and other desserts.

Here are some of the recipes that I have made so far.

This Pumpkin Dinner Roll recipe is from Gina at Home Joys and it is delicious. They are so soft and light. I think they would also make great cinnamon rolls also. I’ll probably try that one of these days.

Pumpkin Bread

2 cups pumpkin

4 eggs

1 cup oil

1/3 cup water

3 1/2 cups flour

3 cups sugar

1 TBSP pumpkin pie spice

2 tsp baking soda

1 1/2 tsp salt

Combine pumpkin, eggs, oil, and water, mix well.

Sift together dry ingredients and add to pumpkin mixture, mixing well.

Pour into 2 greased and floured 9 by 5 loaf pans.

Bake at 350* for one hour and 10 min. or until done.

Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

2 packed cups brown sugar

1 cup shortening(I use 1/2 butter & 1/2 coconut oil)

2 cups pumpkin

2 eggs

3 1/2 cups flour

1 TBSP pumpkin pie spice

1 tsp salt

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp. vanilla

Cream brown sugar, shortening, and eggs. Add pumpkin.

Mix dry ingredients together and add to pumpkin mixture.

Mix well.

Drop on cookie sheet with a spoon and bake for 10 min. at 400*.

Cool completely.

Put the cream cheese filling between 2 cookies.

Wrap individually and freeze.

Cream Cheese Filling

2-8oz pkg cream cheese

8 TBSP butter

2 cups powdered sugar

2 tsp vanilla

Mix together well.

What are your favorite pumpkin recipes? I would love to try some new ones…

This link is for the mom who feels overwhelmed and drained in the heat of the moment. If you are like me, a reminder like this is so helpful. Time goes so quickly and the moments we have now will soon be history. I’m gonna miss this…

This is a great e-book on teaching our children good habits. I want begin this kind of active training with my little ones. I get overwhelmed with all the areas of need but this lays out a plan that makes it seem attainable. Hopefully we can learn these habits together.

Be A Yes Mom was a great writing to remind me of the need to take the opportunity and lay aside my own desire (or lack of it) for my little ones that need to hear the word “Yes”. Just a few days ago, I was making some boundaries clear in relation to which books in the bookcase they make look at without asking. A few on another shelf are theirs also and I told them to ask before they get those. My son said, “Will you say “Yes”?. Ohhh…Maybe I’ve said “no” too many times.

This last recommendation really encouraged me to lay aside the way I feel about myself and focus on Christ! Exhale and Dance!

Enjoy these articles and feel free to share your thoughts.

And I read to my children, I signed up on PaperBackSwap. I have enjoyed cleaning out the books I didn’t want in my bookcase and filling with the books I really wanted.

“Do you have any used books lying around? Ones you’ve already enjoyed, but you’re never going to read again? I did, and I finally found a great way to share them with other people!

Let me tell you how it works — because it is so easy! I listed a bunch of books on the site (listing 10 books gets the first member in your household free credits!) and I got 2 free book credits to get started. So you can order 2 books right away – free of charge — and have them mailed directly to you! No strings attached. No gimmicks. No spam mail. Nothing. You just have to love reading books.

When another member selects one of my books that I have listed, I mail it to them. Yes, I pay for the postage. But then I get another book credit and I can select a book that I want. So another Club Member returns the favor and mails me one of his or her books free of charge. For every book I mail out, I get another book in return – a true shared system!

When someone requests one of your books, all you have to do is print two pieces of regular paper from your printer which includes the mailing address and the recommended postage. Apply the postage, and drop it in the mail. Hey, for a typical paperback, you don’t even need to go to the post office.

Right now the annual club membership is free. Eventually the founders will ask everyone to help contribute to pay for the upkeep of the web site, but for now the annual club membership is free. The annual dues will probably be between $10 and $20 based on the number of people in the club. But again, right now you don’t even have to pay any dues for at least one year if you become a Member.

You really need to check this out. And if you do sign up, please use the following link:

http://www.paperbackswap.com/index.php?r_by=thejntfamily@yahoo.com

If you use the link above to join, I’ll get a free book when you post your first ten books (and you’ll still get free books for posting them!)”

Thanks for checking this out!

Today we celebrate our life together. Eight happy years. We loved each other that day we promised “till death do us part”. We still love each other, in a more mature, deeply rooted, kinda way. In a way that has been though the bumps of life together and survived. BIG bumps and little bumps. Some that jolted us and some that we rode through with ease. The day Joe asked me to marry him, we can upon a bumpy spot in the road and he looked at me and said, ” We will go through all life’s bumps together.” At that moment, it was so thrilling to hear him say that! Just the thought of sharing life together. He still says that to me and it still thrills me. It has been 8 happy years!! And I look forward to MANY more! I want to grow old with you, Dear!
